Abstract:
Warfield begins this essay by tracing the history of the debate over ethics in Science, pointing out that there has never been a uniform standard. To remedy this, he suggests that an informal "Bureau of Standards" should be set-up that would ensure that science and technology are moving in a socially responsible direction. He then looks at a few possible guides which might measure technological activity in terms of human values an philosophy. John N. Warfield Collection 27.19.
