Abstract:
A portal pops up in a poet’s bedroom and transports her to the afterlife. There, she
interviews and observes Eurydice, Helen of Troy, and Philomela in a quest to recontextualize
these women in myth, providing them a space to forge their own identities
outside their myths. As the collection progresses, the poet questions why she traveled to
this afterlife, and slowly inserts herself into this space of interviews and afterlife. This
immersion ultimately culminates in her questioning the metaphysics of the afterlife,
leading her to expose and explore her personal anxieties and experience with death, self,
and spirituality as she attempts to re-enter the mundane world.
